Dancing in the Rain
Enjoy an evening of dance at the annual Bear Creek Dance Recital on Thursday, May 23rd at the cafetorium. Purchase a ticket for $5, or $3 with two canned food items.
Scholarships and Bursaries
There are many scholarships and bursaries available for students heading to post-secondary institutions in the fall. Please consult the BC Scholarship-Database for application dates and more information.
Kodiak Claw
The Kodiak Claw tracking forms are here. Points for claws are accumulated during your 4 or 5 years at Bear Creek and Claws can be earned in the following six areas!
1. Academics 2. Athletics 3. Arts 4. Citizenship (Leadership) 5. Clubs 6. Community Service
Pick up a tracking form in the student services office or download a copy and return all sheets to T-dot Smith in the coop office – room 153 by Friday, June 7th.
Graduation Gowns
Graduation gown order forms are due in Guidance by Friday, May 17th.
Dress Code

Students who contravene the dress code will be asked to modify their attire such that it does comply (change or add additional clothing). If this is not possible or if a student refuses to comply, a parent/guardian will be contacted and the student may be required to return home. Persistent violation of the dress code may lead to suspension from school.
Kodiak Award Assembly
On Thursday, May 16, 2013, during period 5, Bear Creek Secondary Students will be recognized for their academic achievements. Students from grades 10, 11 and 12 who have achieved an honours standing will receive an invitation to the Kodiak Award Assembly. During this assembly, students will receive their certificates and academic medals. Students will present their invitation to their period 5 teacher and proceed to the café for the assembly.
Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)
Transportation:
Students who are writing the OSSLT will be picked up at the regular time. Students who are not writing the test will be have bus pick-up 3.5 hours later. *For instance, if your child who is not writing the OSSLT takes his/her bus at 7:02 am, the pick-up time will be at 10:32 am, on May 14.

The time allocated for the OSSLT is 3 hours written in two 75 minute blocks. The balance of the time (30 minutes) is for preliminary instructions, a 15-minute break, and completion of the student questionnaire. Prior to the test day, student classroom lists and the afternoon schedule will be posted in the school.
OSSLT preparatory sessions and practice have been provided to all students writing the test.

E-Waste Collection
There will be an E-Waste collection on Sunday May 5, 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm, at Bear Creek’s west parking lot. Clear out your basements and recycle your old electronic items.
